We are saddened to share that our legendary perfumer Pierre Wargnye passed away. He was a free spirit, a biker, a French southerner and New-Yorker by adoption.
Pierre joined IFF in 1980 creating masterpieces such as Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche, the spirit of the 80’s masculinity and the first fragrance to seduce both American and European men, and many others, like Pleasures for Men by Estée Lauder, often in collaboration with other perfumers.
He was discreet, generous, and loved to mentor others, passing on his knowledge and passion for perfumery.
He loved freedom: “I love perfumery because of its emotion, its freedom. This freedom is extremely important for me. When I create, no one tells me what I need to do. This is how I work : being free. And that is key for me.” - Pierre Wargnye
We will miss this free spirit and the artistry that he brought to perfumery.
Our thoughts go out to his wife and family.
