ISPC speaks at WPC 2022: Introduction

For the first time since the pandemic, the premier global event for our industry returned to Miami Beach, Florida where Francis and I were invited to speak on the future of perfumery, both as established perfumers, and as leaders of the ISPC. 

Our talk’s focus was about how we can work together, as a united profession, to overcome ever-changing challenges we face, from regulatory to sustainability pressures. As the famous quote by the American activist Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much”. And it’s why the ISPC is about creating a stronger voice to support and build the future of perfumery profession.

Our vision is to make the ISPC representative of all perfumers: wherever they work – in a large company, in-house for a specific brand, or as an independent with their own perfume house. By doing so, means we can have a stronger voice to help shape the perfumery profession and its future. 

As perfumers, what we do and how we practice our profession has evolved over centuries but today, the speed of change is unprecedented. If we don’t change with the times, we could lose the opportunity we have now to shape what we do in the future and how we do it in the future.
