Dear fellow perfumers,

The ISPC would like to pay tribute to Monique Rémy, a great woman in the Perfume Industry.

She was passionate, visionary, exceptionally professional and a great business leader recognised and appreciated in the profession.

She was able to establish herself as a woman, in a world that was essentially masculine. She was a Chemical Engineer nicknamed "The Parisian" when she arrived in Grasse in 1964 but was quickly recognised into the Capital of Perfumery.

She founded in 1983, with her husband Christian, the Laboratoire Monique Rémy to offer to all of the Perfumers around the world the highest quality of Natural Ingredients. She also had a profound respect for the farmers, producers she collaborated with, and her long-term commitment to these partners, and her absolute dedication to the purity and quality of her ingredients, made her an icon.
She was in love with natural ingredients, tireless of curiosity, and so many Perfumers around the world had some wonderful memories with her when she was presenting to them her latest natural development.
Year after year she created some iconic masterpieces like the Blackcurrant bud abs, Narcissus abs, Iris butter, the Osmanthus abs or the Magnolia oil.

Her company has been bought by IFF in 2000, and today, her range of natural raw materials she developed are used into many creations around the world and will contribute to honour her memory in the perfume industry.

All of our thoughts are going to her family and loved ones.

Warm regards,

Francis Kurkdjian & Calice Becker
ISPC President & co-president
